... was to produce a service that was clinically effective and cost efficient for patients spread across a county. The overriding aim was to ensure a top quality patient experience, emphasising patients' interests while also delivering savings for the PCT.

The solution

The Practice was commissioned by the PCT to provide primary care ophthalmic services as an alternative to hospital based treatment. This service is closer to people's homes, more cost effective for all involved and demonstrates better clinical outcomes than traditional secondary care ophthalmology.
