Patient Participation Groups (PPGs) are about involving local people (patients and non-patients) in decision making - listening to their views before deciding a course of action. More specifically, PPGs are to: - Encourage involvement of patients in developing & improving services
- Encourage the involvement of patients in their own care
- Regularly review the results of patient surveys
- Share information on NHS developments which will affect patients
A successful PPG needs to be relatively small and consist of people who have experienced the health care system or who might do one day. The group needs to be relatively stable as members need to learn quite a lot about how the health care system works. They need to be able to understand the issues and communicate well about their views. A PPG set up and utilised properly will be a valuable resource for The Practice as it acts as a conduit for patient views. If you would ike to be involved in the PPG for your surgery, please contact us info@thepracticeplc.com.
